 he did not owe.
For us, who had a debt
 we could not pay.

Today

Eternal Father,
help me to choose my words lovingly
in the presence of my friends,
carefully in the presence of my enemies,
and freely in the presence of your Son.

Valentine's Day

Today is also the Feast Day of St. Valentine, a Priest, martyred in 269 at Rome and was buried on the Flaminian Way. He is the Patron Saint of affianced couples, bee keepers, engaged couples, epilepsy, fainting, greetings, happy marriages, love, lovers, plague, travelers, young people. He is represented in pictures with birds and roses.

Blessings to you on this Valentine's Day.
May you love and know that you are loved.

January 22nd - A Special Day of Prayer and Pennance

Prayer to End Abortion

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life,
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement,
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all,
Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

The Solemnity of Mary, The Mother of God - January 1st

Loving Mother of the Redeemer,
Gate of heaven, star of the sea,
Assist your people who have fallen
yet strive to rise again,
To the wonderment of nature
you bore your Creator,
yet remained a virgin
after as before,
You who received
Gabriel's joyful greeting,
have pity on us, poor sinners.

-Ancient Liturgy of the Hours Prayer
